Ativan
Ativan (lorazepam) is a prescription drug that works to relieve the symptoms of anxiety that interfere with your everyday life. This medicine can be also prescribed for the treatment of epilepsy, insomnia, vomiting from cancer treatment and irritable bowel syndrome. Some people may develop an addiction to Ativan, which may result in difficulty withdrawing from the treatment. When such patients stop using Ativan suddenly, they may experience anxiousness, irritability, and sleeplessness for several days in a row. That is why it’s recommended to try gradual withdrawal that involves taking lees and less of this medication every several days. Your doctor is supposed to know as much as possible from your personal and family medical history, as some health conditions may require a dose adjustment or additional tests to establish the safety of Ativan. Make sure you tell your health care provider if you have heart disease, seizures, lung disease, liver disease, or glaucoma. Ativan is usually well tolerated with only a few mild side effects, such as changes in appetite, diarrhea, tiredness, weakness, dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness, and dizziness occurring in some patients.
