Club Secretary Lisa Smith "The Legends"
A fantastic evening was had at Coxhoe W.M.C. when ex England internationals Malcolm McDonald & Eric Gates were guest speakers at the first Coxhoe United Sports Evening. Amongst other topics Malcolm described his incredible 5 goal haul against Cyprus as if it were yesterday whilst Eric gave an fascinating glimpse of what it is like for an ordinary North East lad to make the big time and go on to play against the likes of George Best and Diago Maradonna.
Eric kindly offered to run the auction which was a massive success.
A big thank you to our friend Jimmy from the superb Highlights Disco who gave his services free of charge for the evening.
Steve and Donna with Malcolm & Eric proudly show their autographed Alan Shearer boot which was one of the superb items to go under the hammer at the Sports Evening.

The event raised £1,500 for the club, so a huge thank you to these football legends for making the evening such a success. For more information about them and Bernie Slaven click on the 3 Legends banner below.
The Coxhoe fun day was a terrific success for both the village and the club. Our friend Jimmy (Highlights Disco) was compere for the day and kept the days events flowing along nicely.

Coxhoe United played a demonstration game between two teams drawn from the Under 9s and Under 10s, which, despite the heat was an end to end thriller with the final score being 2-0 to the yellows. The scorer of both goals was Ryan Mansfield from the Under 10s. Ryan is part of the team that is going to move up to eleven a side in the new season and with his lightning pace and terrific throw-ins he’ll benefit greatly on playing on the larger pitches and promises to be a thorn in the side of opposition defences.
Other United activities for the day included Penalty Shoot Outs, and a parents Cross-Bar Challenge.
The winners were:
8 & under penalties - James Puller,
9s&10s penalties - David Atkinson,
11s 12s, 13s penalties - Daniel Dodswoth,
Parents cross-bar challenge - Tom Arnold.
Apart from everyone having such a fun time in the scorching sunshine United raised over £500 for the club funds. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed in making the day such an enormous success.
